Chen Jianyi was from the Song Dynasty. His son, when young, had a rather unruly nature. One day, Jianyi caught his son stealing something from their neighbor and became very angry. He immediately gathered all his children and scolded them, saying, "All my life, I have valued honesty. If you do not repent and reform, how can you stand in this world?"
